Group Photo Walks

Group Photo Walks are part training sessions and part social events. They're not as technical as individual workshops, nevertheless they still offer plenty of scope for learning and practice. They can also offer the opportunity to link up with other fellow photographers.

A creative way to spend a few hours outdoors, while learning and practicing new skills that will help you create the photographs that you really want. During a photo walk we will look at the general concepts behind composition, the different qualities of light and how to accurately achieve the correct exposure in camera (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed).

These group walks are best suited for beginners and intermediates and cater for no more than 6 participants to ensure plenty of individual attention for everyone.

The minimum number of people required is 3.

Skill LevelAll camera types welcome, just please make sure you know how to navigate your camera in order to get to those basic functions you will require during a photo walk. If you are new to photography or you have just bought a new camera, it is important that you take some time to learn how to select the various shooting modes: Automatic, Manual, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, or several scene-specific preset modes (Portrait, Landscape, Macro, etc) found on many cameras. It is also important to know how to select the ISO, White Balance, file type/size (Jpeg/Raw), Metering Modes, Autofocus (AF) Modes, and Drive Modes (Single Shot, Continuous Shooting, Timer etc).

This will help maintain a smooth  flow of the walk for everyone involved.

If understanding the works of your camera is actually what you need, Master Your Camera Buttons & Settings workshop could be a better choice for you.

Important Things To Remember

Since we will be spending a few hours outdoors and we are in Scotland, the land of all seasons in one day, proper outdoor clothing, a waterproof coat and comfortable walking boots are advisable. Bring water and a small snack, if needed.

A large plastic bag or a piece of plastic sheet is also useful if you need/want to try very low camera angles that require getting down to the ground level.

You are welcome to bring a tripod if you have one and a rain cover for your camera as it's always a good accessory to keep in your bag.

Please make sure you read the Terms & Conditions page before you complete any bookings.
